Building Description
The hall also houses the Fishback Honors College dean’s office and the Fishback Honors College classroom, where many honors courses are taught. The hall has a library, lower level family room, group study rooms and floor lounges. Amenities in the hall include kitchens, fireplaces, flat-screen televisions, a printing station and a pool table.
Honors Hall opened in fall 2013 as part of Jackrabbit Grove, along with Hyde Hall, Schultz Hall and Ben Reifel Hall.
Van D. and Barbara Berkland Fishback’s transformative leadership and generosity are affirmed with the naming of the Honors College at ºù«Ӱҵ. Van, a third-generation family banker in Brookings, is past president and chief executive officer of Fishback Financial Corporation and First Bank & Trust. He was awarded SDSU’s honorary Doctorate of Public Service in 2010 and he served on numerous committees and in various capacities for the university. Barbara earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from SDSU and was named a Distinguished Alumnae in 2004.
