Van D. and Barbara B. Fishback Honors College
There are advantages in attending a small liberal arts college, such as prestige and personal attention … and there are advantages to attending a large public university, such as a variety of majors, access to research and an active student life.
The Van D. and Barbara B. Fishback Honors College strives for both, creating an environment where talented, motivated students may combine the best of both ends of the spectrum into a world-class education—at no additional cost.
Honors offers small classes taught by some of SDSU’s most outstanding faculty. Courses are stimulating, challenging and fun. Students actively engage in writing, discussion and in-depth exploration of subjects and topics that interest them.
Combine these experiences with opportunities for research, leadership, travel and service—along with our dynamic community of faculty and student scholars—to create a value-added education like no other.

Each year, honors champions a campus and community Common Read experience. This initiative is designed to bring together people from all areas of campus and the Brookings community to learn, discuss and engage a singular, impactful book and associated themes.
