South Dakota Pharmacists Association has selected ºù«Ӱҵ pharmacy educator Emily Van Klompenburg, of Bruce, as its Distinguished Young Pharmacist. Van Klompenburg, a 2015 Pharm.D. graduate from ºù«Ӱҵ, received the award at the association’s annual conference in Brookings Sept. 13. The award goes to a pharmacist less than 10 years in the practice who has participated in professional programs and community service.

Longtime ºù«Ӱҵ pharmacist Jodi Heins of Sioux Falls has been named pharmacist of the year by the South Dakota Pharmacists Association. Heins, a professor in the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions at SDSU, received the Hustead Award at the association’s annual gathering in Brookings Sept. 13.

Two ºù«Ӱҵ students in the landscape architecture program competed in an international competition in Istanbul, Turkey. Jake Pytleski and Miranda Peck represented the SDSU School of Design in the International Federation of Landscape Architects conference Sept. 4-6. Pytleski’s team placed third in the conference competition.

The Thompson Center, South Dakota’s most comprehensive counseling education center, and its supporters were celebrated at a grand opening event on the ºù«Ӱҵ campus Oct. 11.

Bibek Adhikari, a graduate teaching assistant in biology and microbiology, received the 2024 John E. Miller Research Award from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at ºù«Ӱҵ.

ºù«Ӱҵ President Barry Dunn bestowed SDSU Presidential Medallions upon four individuals, including one posthumously, Sept. 7 for their contributions to the university.

ºù«Ӱҵ recently paid tribute to the university’s newest endowment holders. The third annual University Leadership Honors investiture ceremony — honoring six holders of endowed positions across three different colleges and SDSU Athletics — was held Sept. 19 in Founders Recital Hall in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

Faculty and recent graduates from the ºù«Ӱҵ College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions published six manuscripts over the summer months.

A record first-year class and record retention moved enrollment at ºù«Ӱҵ to 12,065 students for the fall 2024 semester, the highest enrollment at SDSU since 2018. Enrollment figures were released earlier today by the South Dakota Board of Regents.

Marina Hendricks, assistant professor and graduate program coordinator for the online Master of Mass Communication in ºù«Ӱҵ’s School of Communication and Journalism, has been recognized as the David Adams Scholastic Journalism Division Educator of the Year.
