Teresa Seefeldt, an administrator at ��«Ӱҵ who rose through the ranks in the pharmacy college, has been named South Dakota Pharmacist of the Year.

Over the past two decades, the United States has been importing more and more avocados each year, underlining a growing obsession with the nutrient-dense fruit. Simultaneously, the U.S. and the rest of the world have been dealing with a growing environmental crisis spurred on by an overreliance on plastic. Could avocados — specifically avocado peels — provide a potential solution?

��«Ӱҵ engineering students used down-to-earth knowledge to design an out-of-this-world lunar transport vehicle which won them a NASA-sponsored contest. The SDSU team was one of 15 teams selected as a finalist in NASA’S Revolutionary Aerospace Systems Concepts – Academic Linkage (RASC-AL) competition.

The South Dakota Board of Regents approved requests by ��«Ӱҵ on May 9 to add two new academic programs in elementary education and special education. The programs were then approved by the South Dakota Department of Education, May 22 so they may officially launch next fall.

The Community Practice Innovation Center (CPIC) is a resource and collaboration center that has seen remarkable growth over the last five years. The center, which is housed in the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions at ��«Ӱҵ, brings together faculty, staff, students, researchers, practitioners and collaborators from across the state to “lead change within community practice.”

For ��«Ӱҵ physics majors Gavin Baker and Jax Wysong, it is undergraduate research that has set them apart from their contemporaries. In March, they shared their undergraduate research with those gathered at the mass meeting of the American Physical Society in Las Vegas. It is an international gathering with more than 10,000 participants.

Retired researcher and faculty member Dennis Helder, of Volga, has been selected as the 2023 Distinguished Engineer at ��«Ӱҵ.

Deirdre Cross is a Human Biology major at ��«Ӱҵ, also pursuing minors in Chemistry and Health Education. She is on a Pre-Physician’s Assistant track, with plans to become a PA after graduation. In addition to pursuing her major, two minors, and being an Honors student, Cross has also earned a Phlebotomy Certificate.

Congested roads, highways and interstates are a frustrating result of traffic incidents that can cause longer-than-expected travel times for motorists.

What goes up must come down. That is the interesting dilemma for a group of ��«Ӱҵ engineering students whose project has been selected as one of six finalists in a NASA competition.
