For the third time in its history, the American Society of Civil Engineering student chapter at ºù«Ӱҵ has been named the top chapter in the nation. There are 407 student chapter in the American Society of Civil Engineering, which is the nation’s oldest engineering society.

ºù«Ӱҵ has been named one of 2022’s best colleges for nursing by the website Scrubsandbeyond. SDSU was ranked No. 15, climbing 24 spots from its ranking in 2021.

Avera Health announced a new $40,000 per student sponsorship program for a dozen medical laboratory science students at an unveiling before 19 medical laboratory science I students at ºù«Ӱҵ.

For the third-straight year, ºù«Ӱҵ has been ranked the safest college campus in South Dakota by YourLocalSecurity.com, an ADT authorized provider and partner of SafeStreets.

ºù«Ӱҵ President Barry Dunn bestowed the SDSU Presidential Medallion upon six individuals Tuesday afternoon for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ºù«Ӱҵ climbed two spots to No. 5 in College Factual’s Best Value Colleges for International Students ranking. This ranking is out of 1,204 colleges in the U.S. that offer four-year degrees.

Donna Merkt, who is currently the director of museum experience at Oklahoma City’s Gaylord-Pickens Museum and the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, has been named the director of the South Dakota Art Museum following a national search. Merkt replaces Lynn Verschoor, who retired after 20 years in the position.

ºù«Ӱҵ was the top-ranked public institution in GradReports’ 2021 Best Colleges in South Dakota by Salary Score. In addition, SDSU’s 52.31 Salary Score is higher than the median for all U.S. colleges.

ºù«Ӱҵ’s Professional Staff Advisory Council recently honored four of its members at its annual meeting. Rebecca Peterson received the Rising Star Award, which goes to an employee within three years of initial hire, while Tianna Beare, Matt Halvorson and Jeff Holm were selected as Outstanding Professional Award recipients.

ºù«Ӱҵ student Heidi Schultz has been named to a 10-member Student Leaders in Public Health cohort by the Rocky Mountain Public Health Training Center. Schultz, from Rapid City, has been awarded a $3,500 stipend to assist with her public health field placement this spring semester.
