Academic Accommodations
Explore This Section
The Office of Disability Services assists students with a wide range of disabilities. To pursue access to academic accommodations, students must complete the student information form and provide current documentation of disability.
Contact us if you need assistance filling out the Student Information Form.
Academic accommodations are determined by an interactive process. The Office of Disability Services and the student will determine reasonable accommodations. After the student submits the necessary forms and documentation, and accommodations are determined, they do not need to submit the forms again each semester. However, students need to contact the Office of Disability Services at the start of each semester to request that their accommodations be implemented.
Some accommodations that can be provided:
- Accommodations for exams such as time extensions, testing in distraction-reduced environments and/or screen readers.
- Alternative text formats.
- Sign language interpreters.
- Referrals to other resources.

Faculty members determine their own course attendance policies. Students are strongly encouraged to communicate with their professors regarding class attendance, course requirements, and deadlines in a timely manner. Any issues related to disabilities will be kept as private as possible.

The Office of Disability Services values privacy and keeps all personal information private. The office may share information with university faculty and staff only when there is a "need to know" determined by Disability Services. This need must be based on strong and valid educational reasons for sharing the information.
