About the College of Education and Human Sciences

The College of Education and Human Sciences (EHS) serves around 1,900 students across 19 majors and 16 minors and certifications, offering both undergraduate and graduate programs within the School of Education, Counseling and Human Development and the School of Health and Human Sciences. The college maintains a strong commitment to experiential learning, with unique opportunities like the Outdoor Learning Lab for early childhood education majors and a specialized 20% extra flying time for aviation students. With an 88% job-placement rate in counseling and human resource development, the college is dedicated to fostering professional success.

Additionally, EHS operates the West River Graduate Center in the Black Hills, serving nontraditional students and educational professionals with graduate-level opportunities. Faculty and staff engage in outreach through SDSU Extension and conduct research in diverse areas like financial security, mental well-being, and obesity prevention. Through these initiatives, EHS works to promote human health, community well-being, and education reform, offering sustainable solutions to address pressing global challenges from a transdisciplinary perspective.
