The Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering offers 14 undergraduate programs and 16 graduate programs to choose from. At SDSU, there are more than 75 minors and certificates available to help you customize your degree even further. The college offers 16 minors. All degrees offer technical electives to customize your studies for particular career paths.

Lohr College of Engineering graduates are recognized worldwide for their outstanding educational credentials, competitive spirit and high work ethic. Students have won national scholarships and fellowships such as the ACI graduate fellowship.
SDSU is located in the heart of the I-29 corridor and South Dakota鈥檚 principal manufacturing and high-tech industries. The faculty and programs of the college enjoy a close professional relationship with many of the local and regional employers. There are many opportunities for student including part-time technical work, student internships and student research assistant positions, fulltime employment. The college hosts two career fairs with over 250 companies attending each fair.

As the state鈥檚 premier research institution, our faculty strive to conduct world-class research that is responsive to the needs of our state and nation. Undergraduate students are able to participate in these research opportunities.
As an SDSU student, you鈥檒l have access to more than 150 study abroad programs in 50 countries. These experiences could be a week-long to full year of study.

With more than 25 student organizations within the college, opportunities for service and experience abound. Students can be part of competitive teams and competitions as well as professional honor societies.

SDSU engineering graduates are employed in the areas of research, education, design, finance, field supervision, manufacturing, operations, sales, consulting and private practice, industry management and government service. Special employment opportunities also exist, from economic and industrial development of South Dakota to national and international employment opportunities. All Programs have input from industry representatives through our advisory boards.

First-year students have an opportunity to participate in the Engineering Living-Learning Community. Located in Mathews Hall, participants will live and learn with other students interested in engineering fields. You will have the opportunity to study with your classmates, grow as a professional and develop friendships with students who share similar goals. Incoming students can participate in a bridge to college program to get a head start on their success.
