The 葫芦影业 School of Performing Arts presents the A/B Duo on Monday, Nov. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.
From djembe to Nintendo Gameboy to contrabass flute to drum set, A/B Duo鈥檚 no-limits instrumentation and imaginative concert programming have delighted audiences all over the United States. Made up of flutist Meerenai Shim and percussionist Christopher G. Jones, A/B Duo has made a mark for its 鈥渇resh, vibrant new music鈥 and 鈥渃ommitment to widening the repertoire.鈥 (Fanfare Magazine)
The A/B Duo will join SDSU faculty Aaron Ragsdale and Elizabeth Robinson for a program featuring flute/percussion duos by Matthew Joseph Payne and Valerie Coleman, culminating with the South Dakota premiere of Juri Seo's 鈥淏irds, Bees and Electric Fish鈥 for two flutes and two percussion. One part concert, one part audio-visual experience, this performance will include acoustic instruments interacting with a Gameboy, music paired with visual art, whirly tubes, bubble wrap and slide whistles.
