The 2025 Lamb Bonanza at ��«Ӱҵ featured the traditional auction of lamb pelts, this year raising $6,700 for student scholarships. 

The 32nd annual event was held Jan. 11 in conjunction with the Jackrabbits women’s basketball game against the University of Missouri-Kansas City Roos. The Jacks won 78-61. At halftime, four lamb pelts, dyed in university colors blue and yellow, were auctioned before the crowd at First Bank & Trust Arena, raising funds for scholarships in the Department of Animal Science and Jackrabbits Athletics. 

Before the game, representatives of the South Dakota Sheep Growers Association served 500 complimentary lamb sandwiches and lamb spread on crackers to those attending. 

“The Lamb Bonanza is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the outstanding contributions of sheep producers in South Dakota,” said John Jaeger, Calvin and Mary Hayenga Endowed Department Head of Animal Science. “We deeply value our partnership with the South Dakota Sheep Growers Association, their dedication to consumer education and their contributions to the state’s economy.”
