Services of Office of Career Development
The Office of Career Development strives to be a premier career development resource for 葫芦影业 students, alumni, faculty and staff, and the first choice for organizations seeking to make quality hires. The office offers a variety of services designed to bring students and employers together.
Its services include:
- Career fairs: Events that offer focused exposure to recruiters in specific industries.
- Resume/cover letter review: Review and feedback on documents or help in developing documents for the first time.
- Interview preparation: Tips and best practices for preparing for interviews. All students are encouraged to do this before doing a practice interview.
- Practice interview: Mock interview for all different levels of interviews. This is a 45-minute appointment with 30 minutes of questions and 15 minutes of feedback.
- Major/career exploration: 45-minute meeting discussing majors, careers and/or Focus 2 results. While not required, students are encouraged to complete the Focus 2 assessment before the meeting. These often require multiple meetings where students will follow up and build a career plan to gain more experience and take ownership of their career goals.
- Graduate school preparation: A walkthrough of the timelines, processes and/or any questions students have surrounding applications to graduate or professional schools.
- Job and/or internship search: Tips and best practices for searching for part-time jobs, internships or full-time careers.
- Job offer and/or salary evaluation: A discussion about evaluating and negotiating job offers and how to understand benefits.
- Curriculum vitae review: Curriculum vitae review and feedback for graduate students, academics and researchers.
- Personal and/or professional statement review: Best practices for writing, and review and feedback on, personal or professional statements and associated essays for application to graduate or professional schools.
