Working to solve tomorrows energy and electronic needs.

Electrical engineers play key roles in solving technical problems in many areas including biomedical engineering, communications, computers and digital hardware, electronic materials and sensor devices, image processing, control systems, alternative energy and power systems. The program begins the first year developing a strong foundation in mathematics, science and communication. The sophomore and junior years are comprised of two intensive years of study in circuit and machine theory, electronics, signal and systems theory, electronic materials and devices, electromagnetics, and digital and microprocessor systems, providing for “breadth” in the electrical engineering discipline. The senior year allows students to select from a variety of specialized courses to build “depth” in areas focused in their career choice. These courses, along with a year-long capstone design project, where students work in multidisciplinary teams on projects sponsored by industry or SDSU researchers, provide for critical “real world” design experience before they enter the workforce.
