Germany is the largest economy in the European Union, a key trading partner with the United States and a leader in science and research. German companies like Adidas, Lufthansa, Bayer, T-Mobile and Volkswagen employ 800,000 people in the U.S. alone, with U.S. companies creating the same number of jobs in Germany. In this program, you will learn to effectively speak, read and write in German, with courses in conversation, grammar, reading comprehension and culture and literature. You also have many study abroad opportunities from short-term faculty-led summer programs to a semester or longer stays immersed in the German culture and language. The major offers great flexibility and can easily be added to another major.
