English (B.A./B.S.) - Writing Specialization
Words have power.
Power for beauty, for change, for hope. Power to help us remember, grow, connect, enliven. The English major with a writing specialization involves literature, linguistics and writing coursework. Students receive a well-rounded background in literature, but with more intensive work in creative and/or professional writing. This program serves students seeking careers in creative or professional writing. The major offers flexibility and can easily be added to another major.

- Enjoy studying literature, literary criticism and language studies.
- Are a strong reader and writer.
- Are interested in history and culture, especially as they relate to the study of narrative.
